The
Ethiopian Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus Development and Social
Services Commission (EECMY-DASSC) is hosting a Partner
consultation meeting from
January 29-30, 2007
at the central office of the EECMY in Addis Ababa. Participants
are EECMY and synod leaders, partners within the country as well
as from abroad and Church Unit DASSC offices.

The
Workshop is opened with a morning devotion led by EECMY General
Secretary, Rev./Dr. Wakseyoum Idossa, and a welcome address of
the EECMY President, Rev. Iteffa Gobena. This was followed by a
short introduction speech of Rev. Dereje Jemberu, EECMY Vice
President and current DASSC Board Chair, mentioning achievements
and elaborating the purpose of the this meeting, which
is mainly the follow up of the mid-term review of the strategic
plan (SP) of DASSC and the central theme of last Year's partners
consultation meeting:
|
-
Assess the necessary shift taken
place and adjust the structure accordingly
-
Assess the capacity at all levels to
ensure proper implementation of the SP
-
Incorporation of the wholistic concept
of the Church with the millennium goals and development
guidelines of the country
The meeting is going to discuss and
consult on the major findings and recommendations of the review.

Findings
were uniformity and ambitiousness of the SP, missing key
milestones for measurement of success or failure, bulky
structure with parallel accountability and no effective
communication or feedback, etc.
Recommendations in short include extension of the SP (2008-2010)
and repackaging the SP into three volumes (business plan like,
implementation and a shorter monitoring guide). |
