German parliamentarians, EED board member and
scientist visited South Central Synod and Boshe Ilgira Integrated Rural
Development Project
A delegation consisting of German parliament members, EED board member
and a scientist from a German University visited South Central Synod and
Boshe Ilgira Integrated Rural Development project on Tuesday 26 and
Wednesday 27 February 2007.
During its one week visit to Ethiopia, the delegation spent February 26
and 27 in Hossana area, discussing also with zonal government officials
development issues.

On Wednesday the delegation visited different project activities such as
water development, bridge construction, health post, model farmers and a
Women Saving and Credit Cooperative together with SCS-DASSC office and
Boshe Ilgira project team. A longer discussion with different project
target groups took place at a farmers homestead in a traditional Hadiyya
house (tukul).

The delegation became an eye and ear witness of impacts achieved through
project activities reported by target groups on issues such as avoidance
of harmful traditional practices, gender and family management,
nutrition and hygiene and other capacity building measures. Water and
sanitation committees explained how they administer and mange potable
water schemes. A Service Cooperative dealing with apple production and
marketing shared also their experiences. At the conclusion of the day
highlighting the remarkable impacts achieved and thanked for the
well-organized exposure visit.
The delegation continued its journey on Thursday and on Friday met the
Social Committee of the Ethiopian Parliament in Addis Ababa. |

launched a national exhibition and bazaar on January 5 to 7, 2008 in
Addis Ababa, on the premises of Mekane Yesus Theological Seminary.
